Atlantis – Czech Republic
Our principal Distributor in the Czech Republic, Atlantis, has delivered over 20 Gi-CORE (1 Gb/s) links in private networks for schools and universities, hospitals, incumbent carrier support and various other applications. Their market has shown the real need for GigaBeam’s capability as their market is heavily underserved by incumbent wire-line providers. We recently received another PO for an additional 20 Gi-CORE links and have been advised to expect more throughout the year.
City of Manteca, CA
The small suburban city of Manteca was neglected by larger carriers. Fiber was not an option and the recurring costs of DS3 services were too expensive. Gi-CORE links were quickly and easily deployed and provided instantaneous high bandwidth wireless access to the citizens of Manteca enabling Manteca with high bandwidth to interconnect government buildings and facilities at a fraction of the cost of laying fiber. Manteca has eight (8) GigaBeam Gi-CORE (1 Gb/s) links deployed in a municipal setting, providing connectivity between town offices, business centers, fire department and the police station. The links have been in place since 2006 with excellent performance over that three (3) year period. You can read more about this application on our Application Studies page.
“...Similar to many small cities, Manteca did not have fiber as an option and expensive 45Mbps (DS3) provide limited capacity expansion. WiFiber eliminates overhead concerns.”
-Tim Dyke, Information Technology Manager, City of Manteca
Cornell University Hospital, NYC
Cornell University Hospital has connected two (2) locations on the Upper East Side in Manhattan with a new GigaBeam Gi-CORE (1Gb/s) link. The link was installed in February of 2008 and has exceeded expectations. You can see the installation of one of Cornell's links on Youtube.
Dartmouth College, NH
Dartmouth College needed a high-capacity link to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center quickly. Installing fiber was not a cost-effective solution due to heavy granite deposits around the campus. Large medical files are carried over a Gi-CORE link providing higher bandwidth and redundancy to a leased ATM connection, replacing the inadequate back-up transmission that had been delivered via satellite. The Gi-CORE links achieved an ROI of less than eight months, a remarkable accomplishment compared to the much longer payback period projected through installing traditional fiber. You can read more about this application on our Application Studies page.
“...GigaBeam’s WiFiber will enable us to address the rapidly growing high speed network demands of Dartmouth’s advanced information environment...Dartmouth, which maintains one of the most advanced university IT infrastructures in the country, has chosen GigaBeam’s innovative WiFiber solution.”
-Robert Johnson, Dir. of Telecom and Network Services, Dartmouth College
EDS, UK
EDS has installed 3 Gi-CORE links to provide a secure, wholly independent triangular network connecting 3 of its offices blocks on a business campus to the south west of London. The links were installed early in 2008 by FWA Solutions and continue to provide an excellent service.
Google Wi-Fi Project, Mountain View – Tropos
Gi-CORE link used as a carrier-grade wireless substitute for fiber backhaul in Google’s Wi-FI project in Mountain View, CA. The existing wired plant was oversubscribed, not allowing sufficient capacity in the project. Once the GigaBeam link was installed the network immediately functioned properly as sufficient capacity was made available. You can read more about this application on our Application Studies page.
Islington Council, UK
Islington Council in London has deployed 3 Gi-CORE links and is planning to install further links as the council builds out connectivity between the council buildings. Following successful trials of the first link GigaBeam now forms the heart of the Councils plans for extending high capacity connectivity.
KulaComm – Amman, Jordan
The newest carrier in the Amman market, KulaComm is rolling out a city wide WiMAX network with the core powered by GigaBeam Gi-CORE. Nearly 20 links are in operation at this time. KulaComm is also exploring additional networks in Bahrain and Libya which would be powered by GigaBeam technology.
Ministry of Interior Bahrain - BDS (Integrator),
The Ministry of Interior of Bahrain selected GigaBeam as their solutions provider to develop a homeland security network. They currently have 25 Gi-CORE links installed and have indicated an interest in adding all of our other products as well. In February 2009, GigaBeam was the invited guest of the MOI Bahrain to showcase our wireless solutions at the premier Security Forum for the region. GigaBeam, a rare vendor among dignitaries (including Michael Chertoff), was invited to speak at the conference. In addition, not only was GigaBeam provided a booth to showcase products but was also prominently featured in the MOI Bahrain government booth as well. You can read more about this application on our Application Studies page.
Ministry of Interior, Qatar - BDS (Integrator),
The Ministry of Interior of Qatar selected GigaBeam as their solutions provider to develop a homeland security network, which includes our entire product suite. Our Gi-CORE is at the backbone of this network with Gi-FLEX and Gi-LINX offering edge and access. This network also features our mobility offering with our strategic partner, Tropos which uses a meshed WiFi to deliver data off the fixed network to the subscriber.
NASA
NASA needed a reliable, easy and quick wireless solution to tie their command trailer to their communication tower at their Lunar Surface simulation center in Arizona. A Gi-LINX 5.8 offering performed flawlessly during the recent lunar simulation exercises in October and November 2008. We have also sold a Gi-CORE link to NASA for mission critical operations that is awaiting deployment. You can read more about this application on our Application Studies page.
One Velocity, Las Vegas
The Las Vegas geographic region was underserved by larger carriers. Fiber was cost and time prohibitive to install. Gi-CORE links were quickly and easily deployed and provided instantaneous high bandwidth wireless access to the citizens of the region enabling One Velocity to create a Metro Ethernet Carrier offering services consistent with that of an incumbent carrier at a fraction of the connection and monthly re-occurring costs. Over 50 Gi-CORE links are now deployed as part of the One Velocity network. One Velocity is also evaluating our other product offerings. You can read more about this application on our Application Studies page.
“We found the team at GigaBeam not only capable but partner oriented and willing to help us in many different ways growing and developing our business. They were pioneers on the deployment of the millimeter wave spectrum.”
-Mike Ballard, CEO, 1Velocity
Region of Pietmonte, Italy
The region of Pietmonte is committed to rolling out broadband to all the small towns and villages in the region – under the ‘bridging the digital divide’ initiative. A GigaBeam link was installed by Ribes to connect Andrate, a small village in the foothills of the Italian Alps, to the nearest Fiber in Ivrea some 7.6Km away. The link has been operating successfully for more than a year.
Thames Valley University, UK
Thames Valley University in West London had an urgent requirement to connect two of its main campuses following failure of an FSO link. GigaBeam was able to install the link at a few days notice in 2007 and the link has been performing flawlessly ever since.
Volition Champaign, IL
Volition is a video game development company (a subsidiary of THQ) who is currently running a re-furbished Gi-CORE (1 Gb/s) link between their main office and a game testing location in Champaign, IL. The link has performed flawlessly since its deployment in January of 2008.
