April 21, 2010   GIGABEAM SHOWCASES LIVE WIRELESS CARRIER BACKHAUL TECHNOLOGY ATOP ROOFTOP OF LAS VEGAS HILTON DURING 2010 CTIA EVENT IN LAS VEGAS

DURHAM, NC GigaBeam, the global leader in gigabit wireless solutions in the 70/80 GHz spectrum, recently conducted a first-ever tour atop the Las Vegas Hilton to demonstrate GigaBeam’s Gi-CORE technology, used by Las Vegas-based metro Ethernet carrier 1Velocity to backhaul their metro Ethernet network.

“CTIA 2010 in Las Vegas offered us the perfect opportunity to show off what everybody else at the show was talking about:  wireless backhaul, “ said S. Jay Lawrence, CEO of GigaBeam.  “The 1Velocity Carrier Network in Las Vegas has been in operation for 4 years offering carrier class fiber-like wireless connections to major organizations such as the State Government, large casinos and banks.  The network offers customers an unbeatable quick time to service, high resiliency and low cost, and is a revolutionary example of both technology and business achievements.”

“Like many communities, Las Vegas has struggled with lack of fiber or fiber diversity.  We have been able to fill gaps in the service offering of incumbents and supplement existing services largely because of the wireless backhaul technology provided by GigaBeam. The true partnership we’ve shared with GigaBeam has been critical to our success and growth,” said Mike Ballard, CEO of 1Velocity.  “We look forward to furthering our footprint in Las Vegas which already includes more than 50 GigaBeam CORE systems to new markets in coming periods.”
